Your three-statement forecast

A forecast income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, built from your budget, your own history, and your plans for assets, loans and distributions.

Where to find it

Forecasts in the menu: Income Statement Forecast, Balance Sheet Forecast and Cash Flow Statement Forecast. All three are one forecast, seen three ways.

Forecast Settings

Shared across all three pages:

  • Forecast Horizon: 12, 36 or 60 months ahead.
  • First Forecasted Month.
  • Minimum Cash Balance: cash above this floor is swept to an investment account each month. Leave it blank to let cash float.
  • Include Investment Account: tracks the swept cash and the monthly interest it earns, at the Monthly Investment Rate you set.

Where the numbers come from

  • The income statement comes from your budget. A year with no budget says so, with a link to create one in Budget Analysis.
  • The balance sheet is driven by KPI assumptions: AR days, AP days, inventory days, and a few others tied to revenue or cost of goods sold. For each, use your last 12 months (T-12), your last 3 months (T-3), or a figure you set (Manual).
  • Your plans: a CapEx Schedule of planned purchases and disposals, a Distributions Schedule, and your active loans with their amortization schedules.
  • The cash flow statement follows from the other two, so you see where cash goes and when it gets tight.

Exporting

Export Forecast gives you the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, with the supporting schedules as a separate PDF, for the scenarios you choose. You can also email it.

A forecast is a projection from your assumptions, not a promise. It never changes your accounting data.

How your forecast is built
  1. 1Income statement

From your budget for each year in the forecast.

  2. 2Balance sheet

From your KPI assumptions: your last 12 months, your last 3, or figures you set.

  3. 3Your plans

Planned asset purchases and disposals, distributions, and your active loans.

  4. 4Cash flow

Follows from the other two, with any minimum cash balance you set.
