At a glance

At the top of Budget Analysis, cards show revenue, gross profit, total expenses, operating income and net income through the latest month, each against its budget to date. Favorable is green and unfavorable is red, so expenses over budget read as off track, not as growth.

The chart

Budget vs Actual charts the lines you pick (use Find a line to add one), with actuals beside the budget.

  • Time View: monthly, quarterly, the full year, or several years.
  • Split By: nothing, scenario, or division.
  • Chart Type: bars or lines.
  • Y Axis: dollars, or percent of revenue.
  • Show: data labels, percent variance, the budget, gridlines and the legend.

Set it up the way you like it and Save view to come back to it. A saved view can be kept to yourself or shared with your company.

Asking why

Ask Lou about any variance: why a line is over or under budget, and which accounts drove it.

Exporting

Export Budget builds a PDF or Excel file: the chart, the summary table and a monthly breakdown if you want them, with zero rows hidden, your logo, and an unaudited mark if you need one. You can also email it, with Excel or PDF attached.
