Importing a fixed asset schedule
Drop in the schedule you already keep, and Lou reads it, works out each asset's depreciation, and asks about anything unclear.
Before you start
On Asset Management, choose Import Assets. Your schedule can be Excel (.xlsx, .xls or .xlsm) or CSV, up to 10 MB. If the workbook has several sheets, you pick the one with your assets.
Have more than one year of schedules? Import the oldest first.
The four steps
- Upload: drop in your file.
- Context: Ask Lou reads your schedule as it stands and shows your latest trial balance month. Choose Analyze with AI.
- Analyze: Lou finds the columns, pulls out each asset, and works out its depreciation method from its own figures.
- Review: check what he found, then import.
Reviewing what Lou found
At the top: how many assets were found, how many are selected, how many need your input, and how many were sold or retired. Under What we worked out from your file, Lou explains anything he had to decide. If something looks wrong, choose Ask Lou what's off.
Each row shows how confident Lou is, with badges such as Already in your list, Will update existing, Sold / retired or Fully depreciated. You can change the name, type, depreciation method, useful life and date in service, answer any question Lou has, and untick anything you don't want.
If an asset matches one you already have at a different cost, choose Change to new price, Keep original price or Create new item.
When it looks right, choose Import to add the selected assets to your list.
Nothing is added until you import. Your accounting system is never changed.
