Where Lou's answers come from
Lou's figures come from the same calculations as your statements, never from his own math.
Your numbers, calculated by the app
When Lou needs a figure, he looks it up through a fixed set of read-only lookups, and the app runs each one for your company. The numbers he quotes come from the same calculation code as your financial statements.
Lou doesn't do arithmetic of his own: no subtracting one total from another, no working out ratios or percentages himself. If a figure has no calculation behind it, he tells you so rather than estimating it. We test this every night against a set of known questions.
Only your company
Lou can't choose whose data to read. The company comes from your signed-in session, not from Lou, and he can only reach a company that has AI turned on.
What's sent to our AI provider
To answer, Lou sends your question, the recent conversation, help text about the page you're on, and the financial figures needed to answer. Our AI provider is Anthropic, under commercial terms that don't allow your data to be used to train their models. It's the only AI provider Ask Lou uses.
Conversations are deleted 90 days after their last activity.
