Departments and divisions
Break your income statement out by department, from a Division column or a GL detail file.
Why it matters
If you track departments, locations or business lines, Ask Lou can show your income statement split by each one, side by side.
From your trial balance file
Add a Division column to your Excel or CSV trial balance. Any division not already in Ask Lou is created when you import, and listed on the review screen first.
From a GL detail file
Some accounting systems export a GL detail report that breaks each account's activity out by department. Where Ask Lou supports that report for your system, it appears as an optional file on the upload page. Importing it creates any new departments and splits your income statement amounts across them.
Seeing it
On the Income Statement, choose the divisions to show, then Split to put each in its own columns.
